What if the sticker is damaged or peeling?
Type the serial instead. The serial printed beneath the QR is the fallback, and it reaches the same record. If the sticker is damaged badly enough that you can't read either, tell us the item and we'll look it up from our side. A damaged sticker doesn't erase a record.
Can someone copy the code onto a fake?
They can copy the printed code. They can't copy the record. A copied code resolves to the real record, showing the real item and the real video of it being signed. If the screen shows a jersey and you're holding a ball, you have your answer. The film is what a copy can't reproduce.
What happens if I sell the item?
Nothing needs to happen. The record belongs to the item, not to you, so it transfers with the item. Your buyer scans the same sticker and reads the same record, without contacting us.
Will this still work in twenty years?
That's the design goal, so here's what we can and can't promise. Codes are generated once and never reissued, records are write-once and can't be edited after sealing, corrections are published alongside the original with their reason and date, and the media sits in storage with off-site backups. What no one can guarantee twenty years out is a company, so the record format is plain and exportable: you can hold a copy of your own record, and the evidence stands on its own.
